Hello, my darlings! I hope this finds you feisty and well. Me...I've been in the throes of virus hell the past three weeks. First shingles took me down, literally, and as if that wasn't enough, on its heels I'm infected with not one, but two coronaviruses. Needless to say, I've been moling in the bat cave and finally have emerged to see sunshine and the light at the end of the tunnel!
I don't know about you, but when I'm ill, it gives my mind time to run rampant on different thoughts...politics, the state of the world, different posts that I've glanced at and not responded to...you know, all of the "if I could only save the world with the wave of my wand" type thing. I realize I cannot save the world, but I may be able to save a few people, and at this point that is good enough for me.
This was the first year in 26 years that I was not part of the Valentine's frenzy at a flower shop. I really missed the adrenaline rush! I know that sounds silly, but I did. Instead, I spent my time sleeping, going to doctor appointments sometimes three times a week to stay out of the hospital, and I've found a new time waster on Facebook...Cross Stitch World. OY!
I really feel that 2016 is a year of change. Not only will we be electing a new president, but there is an air of expectancy and goodness amid the muck that I haven't felt for a long time. Personally, there is a lot of emotional/spiritual growth as well as location changes in the not too distant future. I hope if you are facing changes that you will tackle them one at a time, head on, no looking back. It is only when we look forward that we keep progressing toward the goal. We only run into obstacles and fall when we look backwards.
It's come to my attention a lot of authors are starting their own publishing companies. All I can say is please be careful. Read the legalities of what you are doing. Know the subject matter you are covering...and for goodness sake, if you are going to be promoting books from other sites or publishers, please, please, please put a disclaimer on what you promote so you don't fall prey to a false advertising suit.
For me, I will stick to indie publishing myself with Createspace, the publishing arm of Amazon. We fit. They are resourceful, kind, knowledgeable, and very helpful when questions are posed.
Speaking of publishing. If you haven't had the chance to check out my newest publication...So, You Have MS. It's a small book, an easy read, with a lot of practical information about Multiple Sclerosis and how I've handled this disease so far.
With weather jumping into the mid 50's this weekend, I certainly will be standing on my deck doing some deep breathing of the fresh air. Remember to be kind to yourselves for a few minutes each day, ground yourself in the earth and all she has to offer and offer a prayer of thanksgiving for all you have in your life..be it materialistic, people, or other things. Just be grateful for all you have and who you are.
