Deer are such beautiful animals. Their fur, when not molting, ranges from a dark umber to a tawny shade of beige. With the fields harvested now, its difficult to distinguish them because of the color blending with their surroundings. Their eyes, deep, dark, thought provoking.
I'm not a night driver, in fact, I have a restriction on my license because of my depth perception being so bad in the dark. There is, on rare occasion, times when I need to drive at night. I'm always hyper vigilant about where the deer may be and travel at a lower speed than normal people because I really don't want to hit one of them. I've done that a couple times in the past...it hurts--not only the deer and my vehicle, but it hurts me physically as well.
Be safe in your travels as you watch for the deer this season. And, if you are lucky enough to have venison steak or burger in your freezer, check out some new recipes for salisbury steak, venison chili (that is slow baked all day) or some other way to fix it.
