Valentine's week approaches. It is the same day every year...February 14th. It is the day those with significant others celebrate the love they have for each other. Hundreds, even thousands of dollars will be spent on flowers and jewelry and special dinners. With tongue in cheek...recent years have led me to think of this date as nothing more than Singles' Awareness Day!
In my way of thinking, why do we have to have only one day to declare our love for others? Shouldn't this be an every day event? I know for me it is. The past few years I've tried to be more intentional in telling those around me "I love you." Some get the wrong idea...and that is their problem....
There are so many forms of love...it is easy to get them confused. The highest most pure form of love is "Agape" love. Then there is love between parents and children....love between best friends....love between married partners...love between committed partners....love for animals...love for Mother Earth...love for self.
As this week approaches...I challenge each of you to say "I love you" and really mean those words to someone each day beginning tomorrow. A week filled with I love yous is not nearly enough! :)
I do love you all so very much.
